Guwahati, Oct 31: Crowds gathered before sunrise across Assam on Friday as Roi Roi Binale, the last film of late artist Zubeen Garg, hit the screens. The release turned into a public tribute, with theatres packed and fans marking the day with silence, songs, and candles.
Several theatres across the state screened only Garg’s film. A seat draped in a gamosa and garland was reserved for Garg in various cinema halls — a gesture mirrored across the state.

Director Rajesh Bhuyan said the release fulfilled Garg’s two-decade dream of a musical film, with over 600 shows running houseful. His wife, Garima Saikia Garg, said the response reflected his vision for Assamese cinema’s growth.
Zubeen Garg, who gave a voice to a generation, died in Singapore on 19 September during a sea outing. Roi Roi Binale now stands as his final bow — a film that turned into a farewell.
