ITANAGAR, Nov 1: Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Saturday launched a series of youth-focused reforms and major development projects in West Kameng district, underscoring the government’s commitment to “healing, hope and progress” for all citizens.

At Singchung, Khandu inaugurated the Yodha-Bandhu app, a digital platform aimed at supporting youth grappling with substance abuse and emotional distress. The app connects users confidentially to doctors, counselors and emergency services, ensuring timely help for those in need. In addition, the Chief Minister launched Choo-Man-Tar, an interactive and educational game designed to teach children the difference between good and bad touch, promoting safety awareness among the younger generation.

Highlighting the district’s tourism potential, Khandu unveiled the Yakatopia app, which provides real-time travel information, helping tourists and locals navigate attractions, accommodations and services efficiently. On the healthcare front, he introduced the Amua Care brochure, a maternal health initiative focused on promoting institutional deliveries and encouraging community engagement to improve maternal and child health outcomes.

In a landmark move for spiritual tourism in the district, the Chief Minister performed a bhumi pujan for the proposed Grong Buddha Park, envisioned as a spiritual and tourism hub. The park will feature a grand Buddha statue, monastery, museum and recreational facilities, aimed at attracting visitors while preserving and promoting local cultural heritage.

During the event, Khandu also dedicated and laid the foundation for more than 20 key infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, schools, sports facilities and a FIFA-certified artificial football turf at Buddha Stadium in Bomdila. These projects are expected to improve connectivity, education, sports and public services across the district, reflecting the government’s holistic approach to development.

The event saw the presence of Home Minister Mama Natung, local legislators, senior government officials and community members, all of whom joined the Chief Minister in celebrating the district’s progress. Speaking at the occasion, Khandu emphasised the importance of youth engagement, robust infrastructure and community-focused initiatives in achieving long-term growth and well-being for the people of West Kameng.
