GUWAHATI, Nov 2: The 13th edition of the India Industrial Fair (IIF) – Udyam 2025, organised by Laghu Udyog Bharati (LUB) – Purvottar Prant, concluded on Sunday at the Veterinary College Ground, Khanapara, marking a major step in promoting entrepreneurship and industrial collaboration in Assam and the Northeast.
Held under the chief patronage of chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and the patronage of the minister of industries and commerce, the four-day fair drew enthusiastic participation from entrepreneurs, innovators and industry stakeholders across the region.
The event featured over 300 stalls representing sectors such as food processing, renewable energy, electrical and electronics, pharmaceuticals, packaging, rubber, waste management, handloom, handicrafts and Ayurveda, highlighting the industrial diversity and potential of the Northeast.
“IIF 2025 has been a major step toward connecting entrepreneurs, innovators and industries under one dynamic platform,” said Partha Pratim Pathak, President of LUB – Purvottar Prant.
He added that the fair aimed to empower local MSMEs, build market linkages and inspire youth to pursue entrepreneurship for an Atmanirbhar Assam and Bharat.
A major highlight of the fair was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Government of Assam, and LUB – Purvottar Prant to strengthen industry–academia collaboration.
The MoU will provide engineering and polytechnic students access to internships, industrial visits and live projects across 850 industries affiliated with LUB in Assam and other Northeastern states.
“This MoU will allow our youth to learn from real industrial experiences and develop skills that make them job creators rather than job seekers,” said Pramod Kumar Mour, General Secretary of LUB – Purvottar Prant.
Seminars on artificial intelligence, semiconductors, banking, environment and pollution control were also organised, benefiting young entrepreneurs and students with insights into emerging industrial trends.
The participation of youth entrepreneurs and the success of the “Sayamsiddha” initiative for women entrepreneurs added to the fair’s inclusive spirit.
LUB has announced plans to expand the IIF platform to other Northeastern states to promote regional industrial integration, employment generation and sustainable growth.
