On this occasion, under the initiative of Jyoti Bharati, Tezpur, which functions under the Department of Cultural Affairs, and with the support of the Sonitpur District Administration, a day-long programme will be organized in Tezpur — the place where Bharat Ratna Dr. Hazarika spent his childhood and where he came into contact with Rupkonwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwala, Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha, and Natasurya Phani Sarma — all of whom inspired his artistic and cultural journey.

This was informed today evening in a press conference held at the office chamber of the Deputy Commissioner of Sonitpur, Anand Kumar Das.

In the press conference, the Deputy Commissioner stated that the central function to be held at Church Field, Tezpur, will begin at 11 AM on November 5 with a tribute ceremony to Bharat Ratna Dr. Hazarika. Following the tribute, there will be group singing, felicitation of artists, and a mass performance of Dr. Hazarika’s immortal song “Manuhe Manuhor Babe” by a human chain of 5,000 artists, students, and dignitaries from the Tezpur, Barchalla, and Rangapara Legislative Assembly constituencies.

In the evening, a film based on the life of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika will be screened at Ban Theatre, Tezpur.
