NAGAON, Nov 9: The Assam government, under the guidance of Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, will launch the distribution of subsidised Masur Dal, Sugar and Salt from November 10. The scheme will benefit all households holding ration cards under the National Food Security Act, providing essential commodities at affordable rates.
Over 3.82 lakh ration card families in the state will receive 3825.94 quintals each of Masur Dal, Sugar and Salt. For November and December 2025, the fixed prices are Rs 69/kg for Masur Dal, Rs 38/kg for Sugar and Rs 10/kg for Salt. From January 2026, prices will be further reduced to Rs 60/kg for Masur Dal, Rs 30/kg for Sugar and Rs 10/kg for Salt.
The scheme allows beneficiaries to purchase any or all of the three commodities according to their needs. The central inaugural ceremony will be held in Kamrup (Metro) district at 10 AM on November 10, with the Chief Minister as the chief guest. The event will be live-streamed at all 1786 fair price shops in Nagaon district.
Our Kokrajhar Correspondent adds: The state government will launch a new scheme to distribute subsidised masoor dal, sugar and salt to NFSA beneficiaries through Fair Price Shops (FPS) across Assam, starting November 10. The initiative, implemented by the Food, Public Distribution & Consumer Affairs Department, aims to ensure food and nutritional security by providing essential commodities at affordable prices.
The central launch will be held at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, with simultaneous ceremonial events in all districts, including Kokrajhar. District-level programmes will be organised across Kokrajhar Sadar, Gossaigaon and Parbatjhora with participation from BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary, MLA Lawrence Islary, BTC EM Derhasat Basumatary and other dignitaries.
Kokrajhar district has completed 100% lifting and delivery of Masoor Dal, Sugar and Salt from Assam State Warehousing Corporation godowns. Each ration card holder will receive 1 kg each of Masoor Dal, Sugar and Salt per month, with prices set at Rs 69, Rs 38 and Rs 10 for November–December 2025 and revised to Rs 60, Rs 30 and Rs 10 from January to May 2026.
For the inaugural month, distribution will run from November 10 to 19 as “Special Anna Sewa Din,” and from December onwards, it will continue from the 1st to 10th of every month under “Anna Sewa Din.” District Commissioner Masanda Magdalin Pertin stated that all arrangements have been made to ensure smooth implementation of the scheme.
Our Hojai Correspondent adds: The National Food Security Act (NFSA) scheme for distributing subsidised masoor dal, sugar and salt to ration cardholder families will be launched in Hojai district on November 10, along with the rest of Assam, District Commissioner Bidhyut Bikash Bhagwati announced at a press meet held at Srimanta Sankardev Nagar on Sunday.
Under the scheme, around 7, 85,766 beneficiaries in Hojai district will be able to avail of the subsidised items. The central launch will take place at 10:00 AM on November 10 at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati, with Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma as the chief guest. The inauguration will also be telecast live at all 812 fair price shops across Hojai district.
Subsidised rates for November and December 2025 are: Masoor dal Rs 69/kg, Sugar Rs 38/kg and Salt Rs 10/kg. From January 2026, rates will be reduced to Masoor dal Rs 60/kg, Sugar Rs 30/kg and Salt Rs 10/kg.
Residents and beneficiaries are encouraged to attend the inauguration at their local fair price shops. The initiative aims to provide affordable access to essential food items for vulnerable families in the district. Hojai MLA Ramkrishna Ghosh and other officials were present at the press meet.
