GUWAHATI, Nov 11: Assam took another step toward faster and safer road travel with the opening of the Chaparmukh Railway Overbridge by Assam chief minister on Tuesday. This is a ₹84.6 crore project designed to end years of traffic congestion at one of the region’s busiest crossings. The bridge is expected to serve more than 20 lakh commuters every year.
Part of the state’s wider effort to replace railway level crossings with overbridges, the project aims to improve connectivity and reduce delays along key routes. More than 40 such structures are being developed across Assam under the ongoing infrastructure expansion.
Situated along a vital transport corridor, the new overbridge links nearby communities and supports movement of goods and people across the Nagaon district.
