GUWAHATI, Nov 11: After spending more than a month behind bars, Assam Civil Service officer Nupur Bora is back home. The Special Judge’s Court on Tuesday, November 11, reportedly granted her bail, ending a long wait since her arrest on September 15 in a corruption case that stirred sharp public interest.
Bora, who served as Circle Officer of Goroimari in Kamrup district, had been accused of accumulating wealth far beyond her official income. The Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell had earlier carried out searches at her Guwahati residence, uncovering ₹92 lakh in cash and jewellery valued at nearly ₹1 crore. Another ₹10 lakh was reportedly found at her rented home in Barpeta.
Advocate Bijan Mahajan appeared for Bora during the bail proceedings, which concluded with the court allowing her release on Tuesday.
