Nehru Sidhant Kender Trust honours changemakers with Sat Paul Mittal National Awards 2025

GUWAHATI, Nov 13: The Nehru Sidhant Kender Trust, founded in 1983 by Late Sat Paul Mittal, presented the Sat Paul Mittal National Awards 2025 at a ceremony in Ludhiana.

Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan graced the occasion as chief guest and felicitated the awardees alongside Trust President Rakesh Bharti Mittal.

Five recipients were honoured under the Platinum and Gold categories, receiving a total cash prize of Rs 20 lakh and citations.

Since 1991, the Trust has disbursed over Rs 11 crore in scholarships to 28,000 students, 76% of them girls.

This year, scholarships worth Rs. 2 crore will be awarded to 1,700 students under various initiatives, including the newly launched Satya Scholarship Programme, which covers 100% annual course fees for meritorious students from underprivileged backgrounds.

Addressing the event, Pradhan said the awards exemplify the nation’s spirit of education, service and self-reliance.

Mittal added that the awards celebrate individuals and institutions whose compassion and commitment have created lasting social change.

The Platinum Award in the individual category went to Muktaben Pankajkumar Dagli of Gujarat for empowering visually impaired women through education and employment.

In the institutional category, Humans for Humanity and Parivaar Education Society were jointly honoured for their work in menstrual hygiene awareness and child welfare, respectively.

Kiran Modi of Udayan Care received the Gold Award in the individual category for her contribution to child welfare and youth empowerment, while Smile Train India won in the institutional category for its community-based cleft care initiatives.

Instituted to recognise exceptional service to humanity, the Sat Paul Mittal National Awards have previously honoured figures such as Dr E Sreedharan, Anna Hazare, Ela Bhatt and organisations like Goonj, Akshaya Patra Foundation and SOS Children’s Villages.
