Social worker Jitendranath Bora passes away

JORHAT, Nov 15: Jitendranath Bora, popularly known as “Hriday da,” a well-known social worker and seven-time former Ward Member (Ward No 9) of Jorhat Municipal Board (JMB), passed away early Saturday at a private hospital in Jorhat. He was 74 and had been battling a critical illness.

Bora, a resident of Dohaborachuk was also a former vice-president of the Jorhat district unit of the Indian National Congress and was actively involved in various socio-cultural organisations. He is survived by his daughter, son-in-law and several relatives. His wife, Neeru Bora who was serving as a JMB member of Ward No. 9, predeceased him.

His body was taken to the Congress Bhawan and JMB office, where people paid their last respects. His passing was widely mourned in the community.
