Rajendranath Borthakur, president of the Sivasagar District Committee, said the responsibility entrusted to them could be carried forward only with collective support. Women’s wing president Ruma Goswami pledged ethical and dedicated efforts for the upliftment of the community.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Arunjyoti Changkakoti remarked that Brahmins should focus on spiritual development rather than seeking recognition. Rajani Changkakoti noted that the community was going through a critical period with several groups taking out torch processions demanding ST status while others opposed it. Umesh Changkakoti stressed the need for a pilot enumeration of Brahmins in Assam, while Mon Rajguru emphasised that only responsible individuals should be deployed for such work.

The meeting was also addressed by Promod Goswami executive president, Gopal Pandey general secretary of AAUBC, Sanju Baruah secretary of the district committee and members Munin Sharmah, Paresh Bezbaruah, Swapnali Sharma Bhattacharjya and Pranjal Rajguru.
