DIPHU, Nov 20: The third day of the 9th All Karbi Anglong Inter-College Karbi Cultural Competition at Joysing Doloi Auditorium featured vibrant performances of traditional and contemporary dances, songs and cultural activities by student troupes from colleges across Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong.
Retired IAS officer and North Eastern Council member Longki Phangcho urged students to preserve and promote Karbi language, culture and traditions. The Karbi Lokajanong Aikyya (KLJA) submitted a memorandum through Phangcho requesting an annual grant of Rs 15 lakh under NEC/DoNER to support cultural promotion and youth development, which Phangcho assured would be considered.
The event included poem recitations, marriage songs, extempore speeches, modern and traditional dances, quizzes, debates and traditional sports such as sling, tug of war and top spinning. Former KAAC Executive Member and Karbi Anglong Congress president Raton Engti and several party leaders also attended.
