1st Inter-institute Cultural Competition concludes in Lorulangso

DIPHU, Dec 29: The two-day 1st Inter-institute Cultural Competition organised by Karbi Traditional Music, Culture & Research Institute (KTMC&RI) and Art & Culture department, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) concluded at Rangsina Sarpo auditorium here in Lorulangso on Thursday.
Executive Member (EM), KAAC, Art & Culture and Health & Family Welfare, Surjyo Rongphar, while attending the prize distribution ceremony said that the setting up of Karbi Traditional Music, Culture & Research Institute at Lorulangso has enabled the teaching of various forms of Karbi folk dance, songs and music to the new generation. The youths completed their courses on Karbi traditional dance, songs and music and received certificates. They are now masters and are eligible to teach to others as well. The institute has also been doing research on Karbi culture, traditions and customs.
The EM also said that the cultural institutes have been set-up in three places, i.e., Hamren, Dengkimo Apam and Hanjanglangso. The Art & Culture department is proposing to set-up one more cultural institute at Dokmoka. The department will be conducting workshops on traditional dance, songs and music.
The prize distribution was attended by deputy director, Art & Culture, Rani Terangpi; Tribal Culture Research officer, Dilip Kathar; principal, KTMC&RI, Bonsam Kathar and others.

Results of the competitions:

In Hirjir ketok- poem, the first prize was received by Awarest Rongpi of Karbi Traditional Music School (KTMS) Hamren, second prize by Sedeng Kro, KTMS Dengkimo Apam and third by Monika Bepi, KTMS Hamren.
In Cheng Borup- traditional drum beating, the first prize was received by KTMS Hanjanglangso; second by KTMS Dengkimo Apam and third by KTMC&RI Diphu.
In Nimso kerung- folk dance, KTMCRI, Diphu received the first prize, KTMS Dengkimo Apam received the second prize and KTMS Hanjanglangso received the third prize. In Bongoi alun- folk ballad, Rajen Timung, KTMS, Dengkimo Apam wins the first position, Siko Ronghangpi, KTMS, Hamren wins the second position and Ram Teron, KTMS Hangjangso wins third position.
In Lengpum Sokchon- folk dance, first position was won by KTMS, Dengkimo Apam; second position by KTMS Hangjanglangso and third by KTMC&RI, Diphu.
In Kai alammo kethan- recitation, first position was achieved by Bosonti Ronghangpi, KTMS, Dengkimi Apam; second by Ram Teron KTMS, Hangjanglangso and third by Sar-im Rongchehon of KTMC&RI, Diphu. In Hacha kekan- folk dance, first prize was achieved by KTMS, Hangjanglangso, second by KTMC&RI, Diphu and third by KTMS Dengkimo Apam.
In Ritnong Chingdi- sawing dance, KTMC&RI, Diphu wins first prize; KTMS, Dengkimo Apam wins the second prize and KTMS, Hangjanglangso wins the third prize. In Lunse keplang alun- folk song, first winner was Sarsing Terang of KTMC&RI, Diphu, second winner was Sarkim Inghi of KTMS Hanjanglangso and third winner was Dhoniram Rongphar KTMS, Dengkimo Apam. In Tu-va-eh- cradle song, first prize went to Najima Rongchehonpi of KTMS Dengkimo Apam; second to Screalin Teronpi of KTMC&RI, Diphu and third to Rupali Senarpi KTMS Hamren.
In Mosera kehir- Karbi oral history epic poem, the first place went to Sarkim Ingti of KTMS Hangjanglangso, second to Dibison Rongpi of KTMS Dengkimo Apam and third to Rohit Inghi of KTMC&RI, Diphu.
In Oso kepadok- Karbi folk lullaby, first prize went to Anjoli Timungpi of KTMC&RI, Diphu, second to Mirmil Katharpi of KTMS Hanjanglangso and third to Hela Tissopi of KTMS Dengkimo Apam.
In Nengpi nengso kachingki- intimation of marriage proposal between the mothers of potential groom and bride, first place went to Siko Ronghangpi of KTMS Hamren, second place went to Maloti Tokbipi of KTMS Dengkimo Apam and third place went to Screalin Teronpi of KTMC&RI, Diphu. In Adam asar/chehut cheput- marriage ceremony- first place went to Sar-im Rongchehon of KTMC&RI, Diphu, second place went to Dhoniram Ronghang of KTMS Dengkimo Apam and third place was taken by Ram Teron of KTMS Hanjanglangso.
In Chengpi kaparmang- traditional drum tuning, the first prize went to KTMS Dengkimi Apam, second KTMS Hanjanglangso and third KTMC&RI, Diphu. In Kangthum karne aching- drumming to welcome, the first place went to KTMC&RI, Diphu, second to KTMS Hanjanglangso and third place was taken by KTMS Dengkimo Apam.
Terank chepadi acheng- youth hostel farewell drumming, the first place went to KTMS Dengkimo Apam, second to KTMC&RI, Diphu and third place was taken by KTMS Hanjanglangso and in Rongketong acheng kethip- Karbi traditional procession first place went to KTMS Hanjanglangso, second prize was taken by KTMC&RI, Diphu and third went to KTMS Dengkimo Apam.
