GUWAHATI, Nov 21: Chandrajit Saikia retired Indian Railway Service Officer and former Principal Head of HR, Northeast Frontier Railwa has been selected for the ‘Silver Elephant’, the highest national award of the Bharat Scouts and Guides. The award recognises extraordinary contributions to the development of the Scouts and Guides movement.
Saikia served as State Chief Commissioner of the N F Railway Bharat Scouts and Guides for over 12 years and continues as its Chief Advisor. He is also the National vice-president of the Bharat Scouts and Guides and was a member of the Asia-Pacific Management Committee of the World Organisation of Scout Movement. Beyond scouting, Saikia is an accomplished play director and active in socio-cultural organisations.
The award will be presented at Raj Bhawan, Lucknow on November 26, coinciding with the National Jamboree of Bharat Scouts and Guides, which will host around 30,000 participants from across India from November 23 to 29.
