Police constable, national arm wrestler died in accident

NAGAON, Nov 24: Amlanjit Borthakur, a police constable and national-level arm wrestler, died in a road accident at Raha early on Monday, triggering grief across the police and sports communities.

Borthakur, a multiple-time national gold medallist, was rushed to Nagaon Medical College and Hospital after the mishap but was declared dead on arrival by the attending doctor.

His sudden demise has deeply shocked colleagues and sports enthusiasts alike. Senior Superintendent of Police Swapnanil Deka and other police personnel paid their last respects to Borthakur at the Nagaon police reserve.

Police officials and members of the sports fraternity recalled his contributions, noting that he had brought significant laurels to both Assam Police and the state. His untimely death has left a profound void in the force and among fellow athletes.
