GUWAHATI, Nov 29: In line with Indian Railways’ commitment to digital transformation and improved passenger amenities, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has successfully commissioned 21 Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) across 15 key stations under the Alipurduar Division.
All ATVMs have been fully operational since November 17, 2025, marking a significant step in modernising unreserved ticketing services in the region.
The introduction of ATVMs aims to promote digital ticketing, reduce congestion at Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) counters, and enable passengers to obtain unreserved journey tickets and platform tickets quickly through a seamless, cashless interface.
With the provision for smart card usage, passengers can now access faster ticketing services, particularly during peak travel hours, thereby cutting down waiting time at traditional booking counters.
ATVMs have been installed at the following stations: New Coochbehar (NCB), New Alipurduar (NOQ), Kokrajhar (KOJ), Alipurduar Junction (APDJ), New Mal Junction (NMZ), Hasimara (HSA), Dinhata (DHH), Dalgaon (DLO), Fakiragram Junction (FKM), Jalpaiguri Road (JPE), Dhubri (DBB), Gossaigaon Hat (GOGH), Bamanhat (BXT), Dhupguri (DQG) and Falakata (FLK).
The commissioning of these machines is expected to substantially enhance passenger convenience by offering a user-friendly digital alternative to manual ticket purchasing.
With this development, the Alipurduar Division continues to strengthen efforts toward building technologically advanced, efficient and passenger-friendly station environments.
Northeast Frontier Railway remains committed to introducing innovative digital solutions and further enhancing the travel experience for millions of passengers across the region.
