Lokesh began accompanying his father, the late Kamalesh Dewanath, who established the agency in 1991 and continued the family legacy alongside his younger brother Rajiv Dewanath. Despite recovering from a major illness in recent years, he continued his daily duties, delivering newspapers to schools, offices and homes across Gossaigaon and surrounding areas.

A sudden illness last night led to his admission to Gossaigaon RNB Civil Hospital, but he passed away at home before medical arrangements could be completed. Residents and well-wishers gathered to pay their respects and members of the Gossaigaon Press Club, including advisers Abdul Wahab Ahmed and Utpal Dey and vice-president Mizanur Rahman, held floral tributes and prayers. Press Club president Hafizur Rahman described his death as a tragic loss to the community.

Bodoland News Agency proprietor Moloy Kanti Som and staff also expressed deep sorrow, extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. Lokesh is survived by his wife, son, daughter and numerous relatives. His last rites were performed this afternoon at the cremation ground on the banks of the Modati River in Dalgon. Local residents have described his passing as an irreparable loss to the town.
