NAGAON, Dec 9: In a heartwarming gesture, Nagaon District Commissioner Debasish Sharma on Monday visited the Kathiatoli Kocharibasti residence of Simu Das, a member of the Indian women’s blind cricket team that won the T-20 World Cup in Sri Lanka this year.
During the visit, the District Commissioner held a cordial interaction with Das, praising her indomitable spirit and remarkable achievement. Sharma said her accomplishment serves as an inspiration for all, showcasing her determination to overcome physical challenges and excel in sports.
He extended his heartfelt congratulations to Das and announced that the district administration would provide her with a house, considering her financial constraints. Sharma also interacted with the landowner and resolved the issue of land ownership, ensuring that Das’s residence-related concerns are addressed.
This positive intervention by the district administration is expected to boost Das’s morale and motivate her to continue pursuing her passion for cricket, an official press release added.
