Two arrested in connection with Jorhat woman’s murder

JORHAT, Dec 13: Two persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of a 70-year-old woman, Kunti Tanti, whose body was discovered on Thursday inside the Mohbandha tea estate in Jorhat district.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Munna Lohar of Ikorajan, Bokakhat in Golaghat district, and Putan Karmakar from near Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary under Mariani police station.

Police sources said the motive for the murder is yet to be established with further details expected as the investigation progresses. The body of the elderly woman was found in a semi-unclothed condition with visible marks of violence on the chest and other parts.

Evidence of the body being dragged inside the garden was also observed, prompting the deployment of a sniffer dog by the police.
