Local sources said the arson incidents took place around 5.30 PM amid escalating agitation over eviction on reserved grazing lands, including Village Grazing Reserve (VGR) and Professional Grazing Reserve (PGR) areas. The protests, which have been building over the past few days, have already seen road blockades and tense face-offs between demonstrators and authorities.

The situation worsened just hours after reports emerged of arson targeting the residence of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Chief Executive Member Tuliram Ronghang in Donkamokam, adding fuel to an already volatile land dispute.

Residents in the affected localities reported scenes of panic as fires spread, forcing several families to flee their homes. Thick smoke and flames engulfed properties, heightening fear and uncertainty across the area.

In response, security has been heavily reinforced in and around Kheroni. Police and civil administration officials remain on high alert and are closely monitoring developments. As of the latest reports, there is no official confirmation of casualties or arrests linked to the violence.
