GUWAHATI, Dec 24: HDFC Bank on Wednesday released its first-ever standalone annual Corporate Social Responsibility report, detailing a decade of social interventions carried out under its umbrella programme Parivartan.
The report stated that the Bank spent ₹1,068.03 crore on CSR initiatives during the financial year 2024–25, marking an increase of nearly ₹123 crore over the previous year.
With this, HDFC Bank’s cumulative CSR investment stood at ₹6,176 crore as of March 31, 2025.
The financial year also marked ten years of Parivartan, through which the Bank has impacted 10.56 crore lives across 28 states and eight Union Territories.
CSR projects have been implemented in 102 of the 112 Aspirational Districts identified by the Government of India, while 298 border villages have been covered under rural development initiatives.
According to the report, the Bank’s CSR work is structured around six integrated focus areas.
Rural development initiatives have aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity, building infrastructure and improving access to clean drinking water and sanitation, reaching more than 14.92 lakh households so far.
In the education sector, the Bank has focused on improving quality and access through scholarships, infrastructure support and digital learning, with over 29,000 scholarships disbursed, more than 2,600 SMART schools established and 930 community libraries built.
Skill training and livelihood enhancement programmes have equipped youth, women and other beneficiaries with vocational skills and entrepreneurship support, enabling about 7.2 lakh individuals to secure sustainable livelihoods to date.
In healthcare and hygiene, initiatives have expanded access to preventive care, maternal and child health services and hygiene awareness, benefiting over three lakh individuals through mobile clinics, cancer treatment support and maternal care programmes.
The report also highlighted the Bank’s work in financial literacy and inclusion, which focuses on building financial awareness, promoting savings and enabling access to banking and insurance services.
Its flagship digital fraud awareness initiative, the Vigil Aunty campaign, has reached more than 21 lakh followers online.
The newest focus area, natural resource management, promotes sustainable practices in water conservation, afforestation and biodiversity protection, with the creation of 14,520 water conservation structures and the installation of over 69,000 solar lights so far.
HDFC Bank noted that these six focus areas are aligned with ten of the seventeen United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, reflecting an integrated approach to inclusive and sustainable development.
Commenting on the release of the report, Kaizad Bharucha, Deputy Managing Director of HDFC Bank, said that meaningful change stems from listening, learning and working in partnership with communities.
He said Parivartan represents the Bank’s sustained effort to help people and institutions unlock their potential, adding that the programme has been guided by the belief that development must be inclusive, locally relevant and future-focused.
