GUWAHATI, Dec 29: The Gauhati University Initiative for Competitive Examinations (GUICE) on Monday formally launched the first session of its Free Interview Guidance Programme, aimed at assisting candidates appearing for the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) personality test.
The inaugural session was held in the presence of Prof Nani Gopal Mahanta, Vice-Chancellor of Gauhati University, and Bharat Bhushan Dev Choudhury, former chairman of the Assam Public Service Commission.
Addressing the gathering, Prof Mahanta said such guidance programmes play a vital role in strengthening both the knowledge base and overall personality of civil services aspirants.
He added that Gauhati University remains committed to providing all necessary academic and mentoring support to help candidates prepare effectively for the interview stage, with the larger goal of grooming responsible and capable civil servants.
Former APSC chairman Bharat Bhushan Dev Choudhury, while interacting with the candidates, underlined the importance of confidence, appropriate body language, decency and genuineness in responses during the interview.
He also shared practical insights into key aspects candidates should focus on while facing the personality test.
The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment, with candidates actively engaging with the speakers.
Nearly 50 candidates have registered for the Free Interview Guidance Programme.
The event was also attended by Dr Sanjay Kumar Dutta, deputy director of the Pre-Examination Training Centre, Gauhati University, and Vidyarthi Mahanta, programme coordinator of GUICE.
