GUWAHATI, Jan 1: Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has achieved a significant milestone in its electrification programme with the successful completion of major works in the Tinsukia Division (TSK). On December 30, 2025, Principal Chief Electrical Engineer (PCEE) Yogesh Partaity inspected the completed electrification works over the Tinsukia–Dangari and Makum–Ledo sections.
With this accomplishment, NFR has electrified 4,170.19 route kilometres (RKM) out of a total 4,324.15 RKM, achieving 96.43% electrification across the zone as of December 31, 2025.

The inspection covered a total of 90.314 RKM and 106.10 track kilometres (TKM). During the inspection, the Overhead Equipment (OHE) was successfully energised by extending traction power supply from Dibrugarh Traction Sub-Station (DBRG TSS). Following this, the electric locomotive current collection test was successfully conducted at full sectional speed, confirming that the newly electrified sections are ready for commercial operations.
The successful energisation and testing of these sections mark a major milestone for Tinsukia Division, enhancing operational efficiency, reducing dependence on fossil fuels, lowering carbon emissions and enabling seamless electric traction across the division.
NFR reaffirmed its commitment to India’s vision of a fully electrified railway network, ensuring faster, greener and more energy-efficient rail transportation. The completion of full electrification in Tinsukia Division is expected to improve train operations, reduce operating costs and contribute to sustainable development in the region.
