Assam govt, Hans Foundation launch music talent hunt for tea garden students

GUWAHATI, Jan 3: The Assam government in collaboration with The Hans Foundation, has launched a state-wide music talent hunt for students of 54 Model Schools in tea garden areas of Sonitpur, Tinsukia and Dibrugarh districts, under the Uttam Xikhya programme.

Auditions will be held over the next month, followed by district-level selections and a pre-state competition on January 21 in Dibrugarh. The top 15 students will receive intensive mentorship in Guwahati, culminating in a grand finale on February 6, where the top five will be awarded scholarships, recognition and an exposure visit to Suresh Wadkar’s music institute in Mumbai.

The initiative aims to promote co-curricular learning, nurture talent and empower over 14,000 participating tea garden students through music education.
