During the interaction, Hemanta Kumar Deuri said that Assam has emerged as India’s fastest-growing state economy over the past five years, citing Reserve Bank of India data on Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) at constant prices. He stated that the state recorded an impressive 45 per cent growth between FY20 and FY25, significantly higher than the national average of 29 per cent. He attributed this growth to strong performance in sectors such as agriculture, oil and gas and sustained infrastructure investment, calling it a positive sign for the people of Assam.

Responding to questions from journalists, Deuri said that as an inhabitant of the district, he wished to work for the overall development of Morigaon. He added that if the people of the Morigaon constituency repose faith in him and give him an opportunity to serve, he would remain grateful and committed to working for the welfare of the district.

Earlier, Hemanta Kumar Deuri, along with leaders of the All Tiwa Students’ Union (ATSU), felicitated members of the Morigaon District Journalist Association by presenting them with traditional gamosas and diaries during the programme.
