DIPHU, Jan 6: A preparatory meeting in connection with the proposed visit of chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma from January 12 to 14, 2026, was held on Tuesday at the District Commissioner’s Office conference hall in Diphu.
The meeting was chaired by District Commissioner, Karbi Anglong, Aranyak Saikia, IAS.
The meeting was attended by the Senior Superintendent of Police, the Additional District Commissioner, the Secretary of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), the Assistant Commissioner and officers from all concerned line departments.
Detailed discussions were held on arrangements for the distribution of cheques under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA).
Under the scheme, over 55,000 women beneficiaries from the Diphu and Howraghat Legislative Assembly Constituencies are expected to be covered.
The initiative is aimed at empowering women members of Self Help Groups to become rural micro-entrepreneurs, or ‘Lakhpati Baideu’, by enabling them to earn a minimum annual income of ₹1 lakh through grant-in-aid support provided as an Entrepreneurship Fund.
The District Commissioner assigned specific responsibilities to various line departments and laid special emphasis on the role of KAAC officials to ensure timely and coordinated completion of all arrangements.
He also said that any remaining issues or queries would be addressed in a subsequent preparatory meeting to be scheduled shortly.
