Guwahati, Jan 09: Guwahati witnessed another chapter in Assam’s big-ticket recruitment story on Thursday as the state government distributed appointment letters to Grade IV candidates selected through the Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE).
At a programme held at the Jyoti-Bishnu Auditorium, 3,374 candidates formally received their appointment letters around 11 am. The venue buzzed with smiles, selfies and the unmistakable relief of candidates who had waited patiently for their turn to join government service.

With this latest round, the Assam government has now handed out jobs to a total of 1,45,664 candidates, making it one of the largest recruitment exercises ever undertaken by the state.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who attended the event as chief guest, reiterated the government’s commitment to transparency and fairness in public employment. Addressing the gathering, he laid special emphasis on reforms in job transfers, an area long criticised for middlemen and irregularities.
The Chief Minister announced that the ‘Swagata Satirtha’ portal, designed to regulate and monitor transfers, will now be opened twice a year. “We are continuously working to eliminate corruption and middlemen from the transfer process. The Swagata Satirtha portal will be opened twice annually. It was opened in June and will be reopened in February,” he said.
He also made a key announcement regarding employee pay, stating that the Eighth Pay Commission has come into effect in Assam from January. All newly appointed employees, he confirmed, will receive salaries as per the revised pay structure
