The jubilee function was attended by senior scientist of the Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST), Guwahati, Dr Debajit Thakur, as the chief guest. Several prominent personalities from academic, social and public life were also present on the occasion.

Speaking at the event, proprietor Tiken Sharma recalled the organisation’s humble beginnings in 1973, when his late father Basanta Sharma established a small distilled water plant in Sivasagar. From supplying basic technical tools and chemicals to government and semi-government organisations, Assam Chemicals has since grown into a reputed enterprise, he said.

Dr Thakur, in his address, shared his association with Assam Chemicals from his school days, noting that the exposure and support he received during his formative years played a role in his scientific journey. He said his current work at IASST, including experience with advanced equipment such as transmission electron microscopes, was built on that early foundation.

Former principal of erstwhile Sivasagar College, Dr Prakash Kotoky, expressed pride in having mentored Dr Thakur during his college years and highlighted his contributions to scientific research in Assam. Inspector of Schools Divyajyoti Gogoi wished the organisation a brighter future under the leadership of the Sharma family, while Dr Saumerjyoti Mahanta said Assam Chemicals stood as an example of how a modest initiative could grow into a respected industry through perseverance.
