Demow police seize container vehicle and truck carrying illegally smuggled cattle

DEMOW, Jan 17: Acting on specific information, a team led by the Officer-in-Charge of Demow Police Station conducted an operation at Rajmai near Demow on Friday morning and seized a container vehicle and a truck carrying illegally smuggled cattle.

Police sources said the container vehicle bearing registration number NL 01 AF 0592 and a truck bearing registration number AS 01 FC 6944 were transporting cattle illegally from Bordumsa Bazar towards Nagaon.

During the operation, the police intercepted the vehicles and found 39 cattle in one vehicle and 41 cattle in the other.

Both vehicles were seized and four persons associated with the transportation were apprehended.

The cattle were sent for veterinary check-up, and police said legal action would be initiated against those involved. Further investigation into the case is underway.
