SHILLONG, Jan 17: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma recently announced that the state government plans to table the report on the state reservation policy during the upcoming Budget Session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, proposed to be held from February 16 to 27.

Speaking to reporters after chairing a cabinet meeting, Sangma said the Cabinet had discussed various aspects of the expert committee’s report on the reservation policy and felt that the Budget Session would be the most appropriate forum to place it before the House.

“Based on that proposal, the Cabinet has also decided that it will be most appropriate to place the report of the expert committee during the upcoming Budget Session,” the chief minister said.

He added that the government has proposed February 16 to 27 as the dates for the Budget Session and is currently awaiting the Governor’s approval to convene the Assembly.

“We have proposed to the Governor and are waiting for the Governor to call the sitting of the Assembly for the Budget Session. Once the Governor approves and gives the order, it will be formalised,” Sangma said. (NNN)
