GUWAHATI, Jan 19: The Indian Plastics Federation (IPF) – Northeast Chapter formally began its activities with the organisation of a cleanliness drive titled Clean Guwahati–Green Guwahati 2026, held in association with partner organisations to promote sustainability and responsible use of plastics.
The drive, the first official initiative of the newly formed IPF Northeast Chapter, aimed to spread awareness on scientific management of plastic waste, recycling practices and responsible consumption.
Emphasising a balanced and informed approach, the programme carried the message “Say Know to Plastics, not No to Plastics”, underlining the need for solutions rather than blanket rejection.
Addressing participants, Alok Sonthalia, Chairman, IPF Northeast Chapter, said sustainability is rooted in awareness and responsibility, adding that the cleanliness drive reflected the vision and approach behind the formation of the Northeast Chapter.
Amit Kumar Agarwal, President, Indian Plastics Federation, noted that plastics, when used judiciously and recycled efficiently, can play a vital role in sustainable development.
He said the initiative aligns with IPF’s broader national vision of promoting informed and responsible sustainability practices.
Saurabh Garodia, Honorary Secretary, Indian Plastics Federation, said the association with the cleanliness drive reaffirmed IPF’s commitment to awareness-led initiatives and collaborative efforts towards environmental responsibility.
Satyam Khandelwal, Vikash Agarwal and Harsh Jagati were also present during the programme.
The IPF Northeast Chapter stated that it will continue to organise similar initiatives, along with seminars and industry engagements, to encourage responsible growth and contribute towards a cleaner and greener Northeast.
