At a meeting held today, the Bar Association demanded the removal of Justice Gautam Sarkar and set a three-day deadline for the government to respond.

The meeting was attended by Tripura Bar Association President Mrinal Kanti Biswas, Secretary Kaushik Indu, senior advocate Pijush Kanti Biswas, Arindam Bhattacharya, and several other lawyers.

According to the allegations, Justice Gautam Sarkar regularly appears in court in an intoxicated condition and has even been accused of consuming alcohol inside his chamber.

Court staff have alleged that under the influence of alcohol, he frequently behaves inappropriately with office employees.

These incidents, reportedly continuing for a long time, have now come to light, triggering strong resentment among court staff and members of the legal fraternity.

Senior advocate Pijush Kanti Biswas stated that Justice Sarkar has a history of such behavior and similar allegations were earlier raised during his postings in Sonamura and Ambassa.

He emphasized that judges who are unable to uphold moral and professional standards have no place in the judiciary. Meanwhile, all eyes are now on the court administration and the state government regarding what action will be taken in response to these serious allegations.
