DIMAPUR, Jan 21: Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) president A Chingmak Chang on Wednesday said the Nagaland government has opened the door for Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA) by sending its recommendation to the Centre.
Addressing the closing ceremony of the 5th edition of the Khaozaosie Hok-Ah-cum-Mini Hornbill festival at Nokhu under Noklak district as the special guest, Chang said after over a decade of demanding Frontier Nagaland Territory, the aspiration is now closer to becoming a reality.
He appealed to all eastern Nagas to continue their prayers and support to ensure the fulfilment of this long-standing demand.
Addressing the festival on Tuesday, Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio said the state government has already submitted its recommendation to the Centre for creation of the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA), comprising six eastern districts of Nagaland, in line with the demand of the ENPO.
Chang also urged all officers posted in Noklak district to take a proactive role in the progress and development of the district.
He further appealed to the citizens of Noklak district to cooperate with the officers in all developmental activities.
While extending greetings on the occasion, Chang expressed hope that the festival would serve as a platform to forget and forgive past differences, foster trust and strengthen unity among the people and tribes.
Major highlights of the programme were war cry competition, tug of war competition, bow & arrows shooting and traditional cultural dances and songs.
