Road Safety Awareness Campaign Held in Morigaon Under National Road Safety Month

Morigaon, Jan 22: As part of the ongoing National Road Safety Month, a road safety awareness campaign was conducted today in Morigaon town by the PWRD in collaboration with the District Road Safety Committee. The campaign aimed to create awareness among the public about the importance of following road safety norms to reduce accidents and save lives.

The programme was attended by Nitisha Bora, Additional District Commissioner, Morigaon, who emphasized the need for collective responsibility and disciplined behaviour on roads to ensure safety for all. She highlighted that awareness, along with strict adherence to traffic rules, plays a crucial role in preventing road accidents.

Jinnat Ahmed, Superintending Engineer, PWRD, Morigaon, spoke on the role of safe road infrastructure and proper maintenance in enhancing road safety. He stressed that both authorities and road users must work together to achieve safer roads. Pritam Saikia, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Morigaon, urged citizens to strictly follow traffic rules, including wearing helmets and seat belts, and to avoid rash and negligent driving.

Amar Barua, District Transport Officer, Morigaon, highlighted the importance of compliance with motor vehicle laws and encouraged the public to adopt safe driving practices for their own safety and that of others. Officials and staff of the PWRD were also present during the campaign. The programme concluded with an appeal to the general public to actively support road safety initiatives and contribute towards making Morigaon’s roads safer for everyone.
