Former AASU general secretary Shankarjyoti joins BJP

Guwahati, Jan 24: Former AASU general secretary Shankarjyoti Barua has formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. He joined the ruling party at the Bajpayee Bhawan in Basistha, accompanied by several of his associates. The former student leader’s induction marks a notable political development.

Several other leaders also joined the BJP along with him, including former AASU central executive member Kanak Gogoi; former AASU leader from Tengakhat in Dibrugarh Arjun Chetty; former AASU leader from Jonai in Dhemaji district Rajiv Gogoi; former AASU leader from Jorhat Raktim Bora; former Tinsukia Students’ Union president Satya Borgohain; former Majuli Students’ Union president Pranjit Hazarika; former ATASU leader from Dibrugarh Shiv Karmakar; former AAP leader from Duliajan Panchayat Bablu Bhumij; and Pradesh Congress leader Samiranjan Barshoikia.

All the leaders and workers formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.
