GUWAHATI, Jan 25: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) continues to shoulder the vital responsibility of identifying and rescuing children in need of care and protection who are lost or separated from their families for various reasons at railway premises.
During the year 2025, the RPF rescued a total of 1,101 children, including 802 boys and 299 girls and handed them over to Child Welfare Committees (CWC) or reunited them with their parents for proper care and rehabilitation. Under Mission AAHT (Action against Human Trafficking), the RPF also rescued nine children and 80 adults, leading to the arrest of nine traffickers.
In a recent incident on January 21, 2026, the RPF at Guwahati, in coordination with CPDS and CIB teams, rescued two runaway minor boys at Guwahati Railway Station. Both minors were safely handed over to Child Line, Guwahati, for care, protection and rehabilitation. On the same day, the RPF team at Kamakhya Railway Station rescued one runaway minor girl, who was subsequently handed over to Child Line, Guwahati, for safe custody and further rehabilitation.
The RPF of Northeast Frontier Railway reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and protection of vulnerable children at railway premises. The force remains actively engaged across the zone in preventing human trafficking and in maintaining a safe and secure railway environment for all passengers.
