Assam CM’s goodwill gifts distributed to Journalists in Morigaon

MORIGAON, Jan 25: As a gesture of goodwill, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma extended special gift hampers to 39 government-recognised print and electronic media journalists in Morigaon district. The distribution took place at the conference hall of the District Commissioner’s Office, where District Commissioner Anamika Tewari formally handed over the gifts on behalf of the Chief Minister.

Addressing the gathering, the District Commissioner acknowledged the dedication and professionalism of journalists, even under challenging circumstances. She assured that issues such as minimum wages, health insurance, official procedures, loans and access to government welfare schemes would be taken up with higher authorities. Provisions for financial assistance from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in cases of serious illness affecting journalists or their families were also promised. Discussions with the Labour Department regarding appointment letters and payslips for journalists were highlighted.

Journalists requested the arrangement of a goodwill exposure tour and Additional District Commissioner Anusuya Sharma encouraged them to continue offering constructive suggestions for public welfare.

The programme was attended by Additional District Commissioner Rakesh Deka, Assistant Commissioners Santosh Buragohain and Jyotika Kumari, DIPRO Pompy Devi, journalists from across the district and officials of the district administration and Information and Public Relations Office
