DIPHU, Jan 25: Dr Hemari Kro, a prominent official in the Karbi Anglong education sector was conferred with a prestigious ‘Special Award’ for his contributions to education and social work during the concluding ceremony of the 30th National Sports and Cultural Festival (NSCF) held at Kumar Bhaskar Natya Mandir, Guwahati, on January 24, 2026.
Dr Kro serves as the Head Assistant in the office of the Inspector of Schools (Karbi Anglong District Circle) and as Superintendent-in-charge for the Additional Director of Education under the KAAC. The award, jointly organised by the Assam Sports Association (ASA) and the Assam Socio-Cultural Association (ASCA), recognised his long-standing commitment to societal upliftment. Upon receiving the memento, citation and a traditional phulam gamocha, Dr Kro said, “This is a recognition of my long-term involvement in social activities. I pray for continued health to serve and uplift our society.”
Earlier, on March 21, 2025, he had received the ‘Samaj Sewak Prerona Award’ from the Uttar Purvanchal Perona Samanay Unnayan Charitable Trust for his outstanding social contributions. Known in Diphu for his punctuality and professional sincerity, Dr Kro continues to balance administrative duties with extensive grassroots work.
The 30th NSCF, held from October 23, 2025, to January 24, 2026, commemorated the 111th birth anniversary of freedom fighter and actor Premoda Kanta Sarma, Northeast India’s first national sports gold medalist. The festival concluded by honouring distinguished personalities across fields including Education & Research, Medicine & Social Work, Journalism & Literature and National Defence, with Dr Kro among the select achievers recognised for their impact on the region’s cultural and intellectual landscape.
