As a mark of respect to departed cultural activists, the gathering observed two minutes of silence, creating a deeply moving moment of collective remembrance. Founded on January 30, 1977, under the visionary leadership of Lunse Timung, the first president and Roy Enghi, the first general secretary, KCS has played a vital role in promoting Karbi cultural values through programmes, research activities, seminars and community engagement. Most notably, it has nurtured the Karbi Youth Festival (KYF), now recognised as one of Northeast India’s largest and most vibrant ethnic festivals.

The Central Committee expressed deep gratitude to the Karbi community for its unwavering support over the years, noting that the Society’s strength and success have been made possible through collective participation from elders, youth, artists, cultural workers and well-wishers across regions. The Society also paid homage to all Karbi cultural activists and pioneers whose dedication continues to guide its mission.

The occasion was graced by KCS founding president Lunse Timung as Chief Guest, adding historic significance to the celebration. Eminent personalities in attendance included Lawrence Teron, Executive Member of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and Reception Committee president for the 52nd KYF; Ritesh Enghi, KCS president; Adviser Chandrasing Kro; former general secretaries Saising Rongpi and Bidyasing Rongpi; composer of the KCS anthem Harsing Ingti; renowned singer Sashikala Hansepi; former MAC Seema Ronghangpi and prominent leaders Sonasing Terang, P Dili and Bibison Ingti.
