GUWAHATI, Feb 1: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has successfully carried out multiple rescue operations between January 24 and 28, 2026, ensuring the safety of vulnerable passengers through the vigilant functioning of the Railway Protection Force (RPF).
During these coordinated operations, RPF teams rescued a total of 12 persons, including 8 minors and 4 adults, from various stations and trains under NFR jurisdiction. The rescued cases included runaway minor girls and boys, destitute children and unattended passengers, identified through regular station surveillance and RailMadad complaints. Major rescue actions were conducted at Falakata, Lumding, Kishanganj, Rangiya, New Bongaigaon, Kamakhya, Katihar (East) and Guwahati stations.
All rescued minors were safely handed over to Child Line units and recognized child care organizations, while rescued adults were produced before local police authorities for further action. These prompt interventions highlight the alertness, compassion and strong field-level coordination of RPF personnel in safeguarding vulnerable passengers, especially children. NFR reiterated its commitment to safe, secure and people-centric railway operations and urged passengers to report any unattended minors or suspicious situations immediately to RPF staff or via RailMadad for swift assistance.
