DIPHU, Feb 9: Preparations have begun in full swing for the cheque distribution ceremony under the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan (CMAAA) 2.0, with the Karbi Anglong district administration holding a high-level review meeting on Monday to ensure smooth execution of the programme.
The preparatory meeting was held at the conference hall of the District Commissioner’s office and was chaired by District Commissioner Aranyak Saikia, IAS. Senior officials, including the Superintendent of Police, additional district commissioners, assistant commissioners and heads of line departments, were present.
The cheque distribution ceremony is scheduled to be held on February 17, 2026, from 1.30 pm at the KASA Cricket Stadium in Diphu. Karbi Anglong has been selected as the regional hub for this phase of the scheme, with around 1,946 beneficiaries from three hill districts expected to attend.
Of the total beneficiaries, 1,002 are from Karbi Anglong, 487 from Dima Hasao district and 457 from West Karbi Anglong.
The programme will cater to entrepreneurs and youth beneficiaries under the CMAAA 2.0 initiative.
During the meeting, the district commissioner stressed the importance of close inter-departmental coordination to manage the logistics of the large-scale event.
Officials discussed arrangements related to construction of the main stage and pandals, helipad facilities, uninterrupted power supply, drinking water and sanitation.
Security measures and transportation arrangements for beneficiaries travelling from neighbouring districts were also reviewed to ensure smooth movement and safety during the event. Officials said the CMAAA 2.0 continues to be a key initiative of the state government aimed at promoting self-reliance and entrepreneurship among the youth of Assam, and the preparatory measures are intended to ensure the event is conducted efficiently and without disruption.
