SIVASAGAR, Feb 9: Supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party took out a massive protest march in Sivasagar on Monday, demanding the resignation of Gaurav Gogoi, deputy leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, over his alleged links with Pakistan.
The protest march was led by BJP Sivasagar district president Bitopan Rapidongia, Thowra MLA Susanta Borgohain, chairman of the Ahom Development Council Mayur Bora, BJP state women committee member Dipika Duwori Kakoty, along with several other party leaders and workers.
During the demonstration, protesters raised slogans alleging that the Assam Congress president posed a threat to national security and demanded immediate action against him.
The march passed through key areas of the town, drawing attention from residents, while police personnel were deployed to maintain law and order during the protest.
