KOKRAJHAR, Feb 10: The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) demanded the establishment of additional Kendriya Vidyalayas (KV), Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNV) and higher education institutions including a Central University, NIT and Tribal University campuses across Bodoland in line with the Bodo Accord 2020 (BTR Peace Accord).
A four-member ABSU delegation led by vice president Khwrwmdao Wary, along with Khanindra Basumatary, Swmaosar Basumatary and Kokrajhar MP Joyanta Basumatary, met Union Education Minister Dr Dharmendra Pradhan at Parliament House, New Delhi, on Tuesday.
The meeting addressed key educational issues, including the inclusion of Bodo as Language-1 in CTET, Bodo MIL in KVs and JNVs, Bodo question papers for All India Sainik School entrance exams, National Means-cum-Merit scholarships for Class VIII and setting up new KVs, JNVs and higher education institutions as per the accord.
ABSU president Dipen Boro said the discussions were fruitful, noting that some decisions have already been implemented, while remaining issues are in the pipeline for resolution.
