DIPHU, Feb 19: The 52nd Karbi Youth Festival organised on Wednesday continued till early Thursday morning with a competitive mini marathon attracting athletes from across the region.
The 13th edition of the Miss KYF pageant, organised by the Jakve Asong NGO in collaboration with the Karbi Cultural Society (KCS), featured 20 contestants competing in a three-stage elimination process. Maline Teronpi impressed judges with her grace, confidence and eloquent responses during the final traditional attire round, winning the crown, a cheque for Rs 50,000 presented by Athik Tisso and the “Best Photogenic” subtitle.
The podium finishers included First Runner-up Mirlin Baglary (Rs 30,000), Second Runner-up Rengmirso Hansepi (Rs 20,000) and Subtitle Winners Binuka Teronpi (Best Personality) and Mirso Hansepi (Best Ramp Walk). The panel of judges featured former Miss Nagaland Akumnaro Imsong and models Amisha Chaliha and Mirmily Hansepi. The show was headlined by chief sponsor Dr Tuliram Ronghang and choreographed by Julie Beypi.
Following the pageant, the Karbi Anglong Sports Association (KASA), in partnership with KCS, organised a mini marathon that began at the Taralangso Clock Tower, looping through the ARTC & S gate to the Catholic Hospital on Diphu-Manja Road. Top finishers for the girls’ category were 1st Sengmir Teronpi (Rs 20,000), 2nd Fulmoni Urang (Rs 15,000), and 3rd Serlibon Teronpi (Rs 10,000); for the boys’ category, 1st Kamal Kumar (Rs 20,000), 2nd Tikheswar Kurmi (Rs 15,000), and 3rd Brojen Tai (Rs 10,000).
The prize distribution ceremony at Taralangso was attended by KCS president Humsing Bey, general secretary Sunil Tokbi and KASA officials. All participants received certificates of participation for their contributions to the historic 52nd edition of the festival.
