KOKRAJHAR, Feb 20: Marking a significant boost to healthcare infrastructure in the region, BTC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Hagrama Mohilary on Friday laid the foundation stone for the construction of a 50-bedded Critical Care Hospital Block (CCB) under PM-ABHIM at Kokrajhar Medical College & Hospital, Kokrajhar.
A ceremonial Bhumi Pujan was also performed on the occasion in the presence of Derhasaat Basumatary, EM, Health & Family Welfare, BTC and other dignitaries and officials. The project, to be completed within 18 months will be executed at an estimated cost of Rs 23.75 crore. The proposed G+3 structure will be equipped with essential service facilities, including firefighting and fire alarm systems, to ensure enhanced patient safety and operational efficiency.
Further, the BTC Chief inaugurated the Maternity and Child Health Wing at Kokrajhar Medical College & Hospital, which is expected to become operational for public services within approximately 15 days. He also took a detailed tour of the facilities and reviewed the infrastructure and services available at the new wing.
Later in the day, the BTC Chief performed Bhumi Pujan for construction of Kokrajhar University administrative building for its elevation as a university under TNEIF on Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Mode-I Basis (Package No II). Derhasaat Basumatary, EM; Jubiraj Basumatary, MCLA; Dhaneswar Goyary, MCLA; Prof Ganesh Ch Wary, Vice Chancellor, Kokrajhar University, along with other dignitaries were present at the Bhumi Pujan programme at Harinaguri.
In addition, the BTC Chief laid the foundation stone for construction of a state-of-the-art Digital Studio at Haloadal village in Kokrajhar district, to be developed at an estimated cost of Rs 10 crore. The proposed studio aims to promote filmmaking, digital content creation and creative industries within the district while providing professional facilities for movie shooting, set design, animation, audio recording and VFX production. The project is also expected to enhance skill development and employment opportunities for local youth and position Kokrajhar as a regional hub for digital media and creative arts in BTC and Assam.
The series of initiatives highlights the continued commitment of the BTC administration towards strengthening healthcare, higher education and digital infrastructure in the region.
