Man held with weapons in Tezpur raid

TEZPUR, Feb 21: Police arrested a 29-year-old man and seized a firearm along with sharp weapons during a late-night raid conducted in Tezpur based on specific intelligence inputs, officials said on Saturday.

The accused has been identified as Ibrahim Ali, a resident of Samdhora under the Panchmile area near the town.

He was apprehended from his rented accommodation during the operation carried out by Tezpur Police.

During the search, police recovered a factory-made .22 pistol along with five rounds of live ammunition. A sword and a khukuri were also seized from the premises.

Police sources said the recovered weapons have been taken into custody as evidence, and legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused under relevant provisions of law.
