Over 100 Holi special train trips announced by NFR

GUWAHATI, Feb 25: To facilitate smooth travel during the upcoming Holi festival, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) will operate 14 pairs of Holi Special trains, conducting a total of 128 trips to manage the anticipated surge in passenger traffic.

Eleven pairs are already operating from February 2026. Additionally, three more special train pairs will run on the Tata Nagar–Katihar–Tata Nagar, Agartala–Guwahati–Agartala and Kishanganj–Lalkuan–Kishanganj routes.

Special Train No 08181 (Tata Nagar–Katihar) will run every Monday from March 2 to March 30, 2026, departing Tata Nagar at 13:00 hrs and reaching Katihar at 07:30 hrs the next day. The return service, Train No 08182 (Katihar–Tata Nagar), will run every Tuesday from March 3 to March 31, departing at 10:30 hrs and arriving at 04:30 hrs the following day. Both will operate five trips each.

Similarly, Train No 05628 (Agartala–Guwahati) will run every Thursday from March 5 to March 26, departing at 19:00 hrs and reaching Guwahati at 09:00 hrs the next day. The return Train No 05627 (Guwahati–Agartala) will run every Friday from March 6 to March 27, departing at 13:15 hrs and arriving at 04:25 hrs the next day. Both services will operate four trips each.

Train No 05741 (Kishanganj–Lalkuan) will run every Thursday from March 5 to March 26, departing at 08:30 hrs and reaching Lalkuan at 15:40 hrs the next day. The return Train No 05742 (Lalkuan–Kishanganj) will run every Friday from March 6 to March 27, departing at 20:40 hrs and arriving at 02:00 hrs on Sunday. Both will operate four trips each.

NFR has also strengthened arrangements at major stations, including enhanced security, crowd management, drinking water facilities and additional help desks, to ensure safe and comfortable travel during the festive rush.

Detailed schedules and stoppages are available on the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website and at railway enquiry counters. Passengers are advised to verify details and book tickets through authorised channels only.
