In a release, Patton said such incidents are not isolated, but part of a recurring pattern of racial discrimination, harassment and violence faced by people from the Northeast in different parts of the country.

He stated that these repeated acts of prejudice and aggression reflect a deeply troubling reality that must be confronted with honesty and decisive action.

“Racism and violence in any form are intolerable and must be dealt with through the strictest measures,” Patton said.

He appealed to the investigating and law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation, apprehend the culprits and ensure that appropriate punishment is awarded to those responsible for these crimes.
