Family members and relatives of the deceased have alleged that the incident may have been a premeditated murder and have sought a thorough investigation into the matter.

In a statement issued by MASS Central Committee chairman Bubumoni Goswami, secretary general Ritul Barua and publicity secretary Jitumoni Nath, the organisation urged the Assam government to intervene and ensure a proper inquiry into the death of the young doctor.

The organisation appealed to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to take up the matter with the Odisha government and press for a transparent and impartial investigation.

MASS also called upon the Odisha government and its police authorities to take necessary steps to conduct a comprehensive probe into what it termed as an “abnormal and mysterious” death.

The organisation further appealed to the chief minister to address the broader issue of abnormal deaths of Assamese students and youth working outside the state and abroad.

It suggested that educators and psychologists undertake research studies to understand the underlying causes and vulnerabilities faced by young people pursuing careers away from home.

MASS extended its condolences to the bereaved family and demanded that justice be ensured at the earliest.
