DIPHU, March 4: Dr Hemari Kro, a prominent official in the Karbi Anglong education sector will be conferred the ‘Assam Samaj Gaurav Samman-2’ at an award ceremony to be held at Guwahati Town Club Hall, Kachari, Guwahati, on March 8.
The Sadhana Sahitya Samaj in collaboration with Assam Guard, is organising the event to mark International Women’s Day on March 8. As part of the celebration, 101 pioneering women from across Assam who have excelled in various fields will be honoured with the ‘Assam Mahasati Samman-2026’ in recognition of their achievements and their role as torchbearers of society.
In addition, 31 socially active men, including Dr Kro will receive the ‘Assam Samaj Gaurav Samman-2’ award.
Dr Kro has been selected for the honour in recognition of his dedicated efforts toward the upliftment of Assamese society through his service and charitable initiatives. Known for his simplicity and disciplined nature, he has consistently supported local NGOs and social organisations in providing essential services to the community. He has also undertaken several educational initiatives to improve access to education for underprivileged students.
This is not the first time Dr Kro has received recognition for his contributions. On March 21, 2025, he was presented the ‘Samaj Sewak Prerona Award’ by the Uttar Purvanchal Prerona Samanay Unnayan Charitable Trust. Later, on January 24, 2026, he received a ‘Special Award’ for his dedicated contribution to the advancement of education and charitable work. The award was conferred jointly by the Assam Sports Association (ASA) and the Assam Socio-Cultural Association (ASCA).
Dr Kro currently serves as Head Assistant in the office of the Inspector of Schools (Karbi Anglong District Circle) and is also the Superintendent-in-Charge for the Additional Director of Education, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council.
