NAGAON, March 6: Anandaram Dhekial Phukan College, Nagaon, hosted a two-day international conference on “Sustainable Environment, Energy and Life Sciences” starting from Friday.
The event was inaugurated by Professor Dr Arup Kumar Mishra, Chairman, Assam Pollution Control Board.
Dr Mishra emphasised the importance of sustainable development, highlighting the impact of climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution on human life. He noted that every step towards development comes with a cost and it’s essential to address these challenges.
The conference features prominent speakers from India and abroad, including Professor Ruben Tateossian from the Russian Academy of Sciences and Professor Vera Baikova. Over 100 participants are presenting research papers and 51 participants are showcasing poster presentations.
The event is being held in collaboration with Guwahati University, Assam Pollution Control Board and Assam State Disaster Management Authority.
The conference aims to raise awareness about sustainable environment and energy practices.
The inaugural session was followed by academic sessions with speakers discussing various aspects of sustainable development. The conference will conclude on Saturday with a cultural program and valedictory session.
